ADM, Cargill to invest $560M in Brazilian soy biodiesel

May 11, 2011 |

In Brazil, ADM and Cargill are planning to invest $560 million in soybean biodiesel facilities—which with Bunge’s recent investment announcement will bring the total new production up to an additional 2.2 billion liters in the national market in the next few years. Already the country produces more biodiesel than it needs and some analysts are saying it’s a bad investment. Brazil currently blends 5% biodiesel but some expect that to rise to 7% in the next four months and 10% in the next three to four years.
